Career Education

LFAS Career Centre opens on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 am to 3 pm in the Counselling office. Students are welcome to visit during school to get information and resources for your Career and Education planning.  You may make an appointment with Ms. Bonnie Vankoughnett, the Career Advisor for one-on-one sessions. For students Grade 9 to 12. Where: Trades hairstylist ReCREATIONS salon at Aldergrove Community Secondary School. No application necessary, drop in between these times.

April 11, 2018 –    RCMP Tour     8:30 – 2:45 pm

Visit Langley RCMP detachment to learn elements and specializations of Policing. Application necessary, pick up at Career Advisor.

April 25, 2018 –    Helping Professions Tour      8:15 – 3:45pm

Grades 10, 11 and 12.  Tour UFV and hear about Social Work, Child and Youth Care and Psychology programs.  Application necessary, pick up at Career Advisor.

Youth Train in Trades
Students in grade 11 and 12 accepted to participate in one of the Youth TRAIN in Trades programs receive elective credits towards graduation, post-secondary credits, and Industry Training Authority (ITA) technical trades apprenticeship training at the same time.

Youth Work in Trades

The ITA Youth WORK in Trades previously known as Secondary School Apprenticeship program allows students to start their apprenticeship while still in high school. They earn graduation credit and log apprenticeship training hours at the same time. Students can be signed up anytime during the school year.
