PA-MOJA Halloween Events a Huge Success

Posted: October 30, 2019

We don’t normally have Grade 6/7 dances here at Langley Fine Arts School. The idea was put forward by the high school PA-MOJA club. A team of incredibly passionate students worked hard to create the music, bring food for the concession, and spread the word…. but, one member went above and beyond.

Serena Sayani created a letter explaining the role of PA-MOJA (to raise funds to provide scholarships for Kenyan youth). She then walked around Langley area to every pizza outlet she could find. She walked into “Pizza Mantra” and met the owner Mr. Hiten Gupta. Gupta was so amazed by Serena and her passion for PA-MOJA. “She had an answer for everything!” he said. Gupta decided to sponsor the ENTIRE event providing 12 large pepperoni and cheese pizzas at no cost. As he delivered the pizza he mentioned how amazed he was by Serena, and how young people like Serena were the ones to stand behind and support. Thank-you Mr. Gupta for your incredible donation of pizzas to the Grade 6/7 Halloween Dance.

Between THE HARRY POTTER event and the Grade 6/7 dance enough was raised to sponsor one more student for a year of school. It was an incredible effort and we are so proud of our students at LFAS for extending beyond themselves to make a difference.
