September 22, 2019
The intention for the day is to support rhino conservation and say NO to poaching.
Here is how YOU can be part of it all!
1. Wear WHITE in memory of Sudan, the last Northern White male rhino (died in 2018) and the last 2 remaining Northern White rhino females, Najin and Fatu).
*K-8 have school photo day and so students might want to bring a white shirt, white hoodie etc. to change into later.
2. Look for MESSAGES in a BOTTLE hidden around the school. The Grade 51s (and some 61s) wrote letters from a rhino to help students learn about rhinos and their plight.
3. Donate COINS for CONSERVATION – we will have donation jars at the office and at the PA-MOJA table in the front lobby. Or give donations to the classroom teacher. Proceeds will go to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya.
4. Come to the BAKE SALE at Secondary lunch or after school in the front foyer to buy a rhino cookie ($3) – (Thank you Blacksmith Bakery!!), or a soapstone animal from Kenya ($10).
PA-MOJA helps protect rhinos by supporting the people in the communities around Ol Pejeta Conservancy. PA-MOJA provides scholarships for students whose families cannot afford high school fees. As Dr. Gillian Laprairie (founder of PA-MOJA) explains,
If you want to help the animals, you need to help the people first.
