Mr. Carman McKay visited our classroom to discuss the importance of animals. His First Nations perspective enhances our Social Studies Curriculum in drawing attention to the natural world and the living creatures that share it with us. The big idea that we took from this discussion is that our stillness opens up the possibilities of listening and learning from other creatures. In particular, the salmon is a valuable resource to sustain first nations people.
